I moved in to my corner room on Loose 2nd Saturday, August 19 but I’m still at that point in my college life where I check my email seven times daily and cry when I read a letter from home. The thought of being here for four years is enough to make someone want to honor their eight complimentary visits to the town shrink— but I’m slowly learning that Grinnell has what I need and I’m not at all sorry I’m here.

"The Diary of a Young Girl Bowler"

I killed it tonight. The first game was 203; my average will be about 170 to start. All of my posts about league from now on will be called "The Diary of a Young Girl Bowler" because I'm the only girl and the youngest on the entire league. I'm like Anne Frank in a lot of ways, and in a lot of other ways I'm not.

My team is made up of Jon, Brandon, Troy, and Cloynce; they're all local except for Brandon and Cloynce is a lot crazier than his name leads one to believe. We bowled against a team of men that looked a lot like the twice removed relatives of men my Dad used to fish with. They all brought special bottle jackets to keep their beer cold. Next week I will bring the caddy I compulsively purchased while "cogged" at the top of Pike's Peak, just so I can be one of the guys.

As soon as I got back, Ryan and I had to watch two hours of coverage about 9/11 for our tutorial. A media critique is due Friday. We managed to catch all of the president's address in which he asked the country to rededicate itself to the pursuit of freedom. The best part of any presidential address is the 'analysis by analysts' that follows; who decided that his dialogue was too sophisticated for the American public to interpret on their own the first time?

People are having sex above us on the third floor right now. If the bed springs are this loud a floor down, I can't even imagine what it's like in the bed...

Professor Purcell gave us a piece that she published about the Bunker Hill Monument to read for class tomorrow. It's pretty boring.
